Fellow of the American Academy of Neurological and Orthopaedic Surgeons (F.A.A.N.O.S.)
A post-nominal title is used to indicate that a surgeon’s education and training, professional qualifications, surgical competence, and ethical conduct have passed a rigorous evaluation, and have been found to be consistent with the high standards established and demanded by a professional society such the American Academy of Neurological and Orthopaedic Surgeons (AANOS).
As such, the post-nominal title of “FAANOS” is now being offered to qualified members of the AANOS based on compliance with the following minimum requirements as adopted by its Board of Directors.
- Continuous active dues paid membership in the AANOS for a period of 5 years or more. Your dues must be current and completely paid through this fiscal year (2019).
- Active participation in the annual scientific meetings of the AANOS (attendance at least once in the past three years, 2017-2019).
- Certification by a board recognized by the American Federation of Medical Accreditation or its equivalent (certification must be maintained as required by the certifying body and in the case of AFMA boards by completing appropriate reapplication every five years or FAANOS designation will be forfeited/suspended).
- Payment of a one-time non-refundable application fee of $100.00 (to cover the cost of processing and production of an ornate certificate of Fellowship).
Please submit your completed application for review by the Credentials Sub-Committee to receive your certificate and begin using the FAANOS designation.
